The Toronto Market

The TSX composite index declined -59.05 points or -0.22%, to close the session at 27,023.25. TSX declined after two days of gains.

                                                                                                                                      

Today’s Market Statistics: Today, the issues that declined (Decliners) outnumbered those that gained (Advancers). There were about three Decliners for every two Advancers, or a more exact ratio of 1.57-to-1.0. In real numbers, there were 1,161 Decliners to 739 Advancers while 144 stocks remained Unchanged.

Today, there were 149 new 52-Week Highs and 17 new 52-Week Lows. There were 246 new 52-Week Highs and 10 new 52-Week Lows on Thursday.

The total volume of shares traded at the TSX today was 367,938,846, or 13%, less than the volume of 423,889,598 shares traded on Thursday.

The US Markets

All three major indexes declined on Friday. The Dow Jones Average index declined -279.13 points or -0.63%, to close the session at 44,371.51. The S&P 500 index declined -20.71 points or -0.33% to close at 6,259.75. The Nasdaq Composite declined -45.14 points or -0.22%, to close the session at 20,585.53. In small caps, Russell 2000 declined -28.58 points or -1.26% to close the session at 2234.83. Small caps bore the brunt of losses on Friday.

Today’s Market Statistics:  At the NYSE, the issues that declined (Decliners) outnumbered the issues that gained (Advancers). There were roughly five Decliners for every two Advancers, more than doubled, or an exact ratio of 2.40-to-1.0. In actual numbers, there were 2,888 Decliners to 1,207 Advancers with 254 Unchanged.

Today, there were 169 new 52-Week Highs and 48 new 52-Week Lows. There were 374 new 52-Week Highs and 36 new 52-Week Lows yesterday.

The total volume of stocks traded today at the NYSE was 4,724,973,557, or about 14%, less than the total volume of 5,462,042,255 shares traded on Thursday.

On the NASDAQ, the Decliners outnumbered the Advancers. There were roughly three Decliners for every Advancer, or an exact ratio of 2.79-to-1.0. In actual numbers, there were 3,353 Decliners to 1,201 Advancers with 269 Unchanged.

Today, there were 115 new 52-Week Highs and 63 new 52-Week Lows. There were 202 new 52-Week Highs and 47 new 52-Week Lows yesterday.

The total volume of shares traded at the NASDAQ today was 8,383,132,822, or 17%, less than the total volume of 10,122,902,280 shares traded on Thursday.
