The Toronto Market

The TSX composite index gained 98.83 points or 0.37%, to close the session at 27,152.97. TSX declined right from the opening bell and remained in the red throughout the session today.  The TSX practically reversed “yesterday’s steps” today and ended the session rising with strong momentum.

                                                                                                                               

Today’s Market Statistics: Today, the issues that gained (Advancers) outnumbered those that declined (Decliners). There were three Advancers for every two Decliners, or a more exact ratio of 1.43-to-1.0. In real numbers, there were 1,148 Advancers to 800 Decliners while 158 stocks remained Unchanged.

Today, there were 135 new 52-Week Highs and 17 new 52-Week Lows. There were 202 new 52-Week Highs and 17 new 52-Week Lows yesterday.

The total volume of shares traded at the TSX today was 354,800,970, or 1.5% less than, roughly about the same as, the volume of 360,471,134 shares traded yesterday.

The US Markets

All three index gained in today’s market session. The Dow Jones Average index gained 231.49 points or 0.53%, to close the session at 44,254.78. The S&P 500 index gained 19.94 points or 0.32% to close at 6,263.70. The Nasdaq Composite gained 52.69 points or 0.25%, to close the session at 20,730.49. In small caps, Russell 2000 gained 21.93 points or 0.99% to close the session at 2226.98. Small caps fared better today than yesterday.

Today’s Market Statistics:  At the NYSE, the issues that gained (Advancers) outnumbered the issues that declined (Decliners). There were three Advancers for every two Decliners, or a more exact ratio of 1.66-to-1.0. In actual numbers, there were 2,561 Advancers to 1,540 Decliners with 311 Unchanged.

Today, there were 159 new 52-Week Highs and 62 new 52-Week Lows. There were 249 new 52-Week Highs and 71 new 52-Week Lows yesterday.

The total volume of stocks traded today at the NYSE was 5,242,319,246, about the same as the total volume of 5,226,035,929 shares traded yesterday.

On the NASDAQ, the Advancers outnumbered the Decliners. There were roughly two Advancers for every Decliner, or an exact ratio of 2.09-to-1.0. In actual numbers, there were 3,094 Advancers to 1,475 Decliners with 237 Unchanged.

Today, there were 120 new 52-Week Highs and 80 new 52-Week Lows. There were 184 new 52-Week Highs and 87 new 52-Week Lows yesterday.

The total volume of shares traded at the NASDAQ today was 9,443,750,344, or 8.7%, roughly one in ten, more than the total volume of 8,682,102,145 shares traded yesterday.

Market Roundup Report

Crypto stocks, including related recent IPO stocks, soar as the markets see the regulatory bills passing soon. The market rallied today with small caps fully participating. The market rallied with the volume of shares traded on the NYSE slightly higher than the previous session’s volume, while the volume of shares traded at the NASDAQ is about ten percent higher.  The rally is very much alive.

Oil Price:     US oil prices rose today as traders see an improving economy and positive economic sentiments. US Oil price is at $66.71 per barrel, as of the time (11:30 pm ET, Wednesday) of this post update.

10 –year Treasury Yield:   The 10-year Treasury yield dropped slightly earlier today. The 10-year yield was at 4.475%, as of the time (11:30 am ET, Wednesday) of this post update.

After-hours action:  Futures slipped Wednesday evening. Dow Futures was down -54.00 points or -0.12% vs. fair value. S&P 500 futures was down -7.50 or -0.12%, and Nasdaq 100 futures was down -21.00 points or -0.09% as of the time (11:30 pm ET, Wednesday) of this post update.
