The Toronto Market on Friday
The S&P/TSX Composite Index rose 11.63 points, or 0.04%, to close at 33,040.55. The index has now posted gains in six of the past seven trading sessions. The TSX was one of the few major North American indices to finish higher on Friday.

TSX Market Statistics
Advancing issues outnumbered declining issues on the TSX, with 1,154 advancers versus 958 decliners. This resulted in an advancer-to-decliner ratio of 1.73 to 1, or roughly three advancers for every two decliners, while 160 issues were unchanged.
The market recorded 326 new 52-week highs and 23 new 52-week lows, compared with 358 new highs and 23 new lows in the previous session.
Total trading volume on the TSX reached 458,817,413 shares, representing an 8% increase from the 423,120,244 shares traded yesterday.

The US Markets on Friday
The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 83.11 points, or 0.17%, to close at 49,359.33. The S&P 500 slipped 4.46 points, or 0.46%, ending the session at 6,940.01, while the Nasdaq Composite declined 14.63 points, or 0.06%, to finish at 23,515.39.
In contrast, the Russell 2000 Index rose 3.18 points, or 0.12%, to close at 2,677.74. While most major indexes finished in negative territory, the Russell 2000 managed to post a gain, highlighting continued strength in small-cap stocks.

U.S. Market Statistics
New York Stock Exchange (NYSE): Declining issues outnumbered advancing issues, with 1,539 decliners versus 1,186 advancers, while 109 issues were unchanged. This produced a decliner-to-advancer ratio of 1.30 to 1, or roughly six decliners for every five advancers.
The exchange recorded 759 new 52-week highs and 55 new 52-week lows, compared with 518 new highs and 69 new lows in the previous session.
Total NYSE trading volume reached 5,378,134,083 shares, up 3.6% from the prior session’s volume of 5,191,115,336 shares.
NASDAQ: Decliners also outpaced advancers on the NASDAQ, with 2,723 declining issues and 2,055 advancing issues, resulting in a decliner-to-advancer ratio of 1.32 to 1. A total of 194 issues were unchanged.
The exchange posted 445 new 52-week highs and 110 new 52-week lows, compared with 277 new highs and 131 new lows in the previous session.
NASDAQ trading volume totaled 9,598,168,881 shares, down 4.5% from Thursday’s volume of 10,053,273,664 shares.
Commodities and Bonds
Oil Price: Oil prices fell after President Trump during the weekend announced additional tariff on eight EU countries unless the countries agree with his administration’s view of buying Greenland. Supply risk has now taken focus. US Oil price is up 0.35% at $59.65 per barrel, as of the time (10:30 pm EST, Sunday) of this post update.
Gold price is up $74.60, or 1.65%, at $4,671.40 per troy ounce. Silver price is up $4.69, or 5.35%, at $93.27 per ounce as of the time of this post update.
Bitcoin (BTC-USD) was trading down -$2,723.50 or -2.85% at $92,625.60 as of the time of this post update.
10 –year Treasury Yield: The 10-year treasury is currently at 4.227%, as of the time (10:30 pm EST, Sunday) of this post update.
After-hours action: Futures are down Sunday evening in response to new tariff comments on 8 EU countries by President Trump if they do not agree to the his views on the US buying Greenland island from Denmark. Dow futures is down -358.00 points or -0.72% vs. fair value. S&P 500 futures is down -60.00 points or -0.85% at 6,917.25 and Nasdaq 100 futures is down -299.75 points or -1.16% at 25,390.50 as of the time (10:30pm EST, Sunday) of this post update.
