PM Carney and his new cabinet to be sworn in Tuesday
The new federal cabinet will be sworn in on Tuesday morning as part of a ceremony that will also see Mark Carney sworn in as prime minister.
The announcement today from the office of the Governor General follows last month’s federal election in which Mr. Carney led the Liberals to re-election as a minority government.
Governor-General Mary Simon will preside over the swearing-in ceremony at Rideau Hall.
On March. 14, after winning the Liberal leadership, Mr. Carney named a 23-member cabinet in addition to himself. That was smaller than the cabinet of former prime minister Justin Trudeau, which reached a 40-member peak last year.
Mr. Carney has said he will have equal number of men and women in his post-election cabinet.
