The Toronto Market
The TSX composite index advanced 109.26 points or 0.41%, to close the session at 26,718.62. The TSX is looking more comfortable above the 26,000 level.

The Market Breadth: Technology, up 2.67%, was the top sector. Celestica Inc. (TSX:CLS), up 5.38% and Shopify Inc. (TSX:SHOP), up 4% today, contributed to the Technology sector’s performance today. Durable Consumer Goods & Services gained 1.14%; Discretionary Consumer Goods & Services gained 1.02%; and Financials gained 0.93%. Industrials gained 0.48%, and Telecommunications Services gained 0.43%. Healthcare gained 0.23%. Utilities declined -0.14%; Energy declined -0.63%; and Basic Materials declined -1.19% and was the laggard sector today.
Industry Groups: The top five industry groups in the TSX today were: Aluminum, up 34.62%; Computer Hardware, up 5.57%; Electrical Components & Equipment, up 5.03%; Wireless Communications Services, up 3.41%; and IT Services & Consulting, up 3.31%.
Today’s Statistics: Today, the issues that gained (Advancers) outnumbered those that declined (Decliners). There were roughly five Advancers for every two Decliners, or a more exact ratio of 2.67-to-1.0. In real numbers, there were 1,378 Advancers to 516 Decliners while 136 stocks remained Unchanged.
Today, there were 201 new 52-Week Highs and 16 new 52-Week Lows. There were 108 new 52-Week Highs and 18 new 52-Week Lows yesterday.
The total volume of shares traded at the TSX today was 446,228,114, or 1% less than, or about the same as, the volume of 450,045,297 shares traded yesterday.

The US Markets
The Dow Jones Average index advanced 507.24 points or 1.19%, to close the session at 43,089.02. The S&P 500 index gained 67.01 points or 1.11% to close at 6,092.18. The Nasdaq Composite advanced 281.56 points or 1.43%, to close the session at 19,912.53. In small caps, Russell 2000 advanced 28.53 points or 1.34% to close at 2161.21. The indexes were up, but the volume of shares traded was down for all the indexes, again repeating yesterday’s scenario in that respect. It is a better scenario for investors that share prices are up and the volume of shares traded is also up.

Today’s Market Statistics: At the NYSE, the issues that gained (Advancers) outnumbered the issues that declined (Decliners). There were roughly three Advancers for every Decliner, or an exact ratio of 3.26-to-1.0. In actual numbers, there were 3,177 Advancers to 973 Decliners with 262 Unchanged.
Today, there were 239 new 52-Week Highs and 56 new 52-Week Lows. There were 128 new 52-Week Highs and 71 new 52-Week Lows yesterday.
The total volume of stocks traded today at the NYSE was 5,562,458,769, or 2.6% less than the total volume of 5,698,099,405 shares traded yesterday.
On the NASDAQ, the Advancers outnumbered the Decliners. There were roughly three Advancers for every Decliner, or an exact ratio of 3.28-to-1.0. In actual numbers, there were 3,475 Advancers to 1,058 Decliners with 253 Unchanged. It was a really bullish market
Today, there were 242 new 52-Week Highs and 86 new 52-Week Lows. There were 144 new 52-Week Highs and 143 new 52-Week Lows yesterday.
The total volume of shares traded at the NASDAQ today was 8,547,536,611, or 9% less than the total volume of 9,372,572,059 shares traded yesterday.
Market Roundup Report
Oil prices tumbled for a second day, down 6% as the Iran-Israel ceasefire appears to be holding, easing supply concerns. Indexes are near all-time highs. It is time to be fully invested, but to be prepared and ready to act is the market suddenly throws surprises.
Oil Price: Oil prices tumbled 5.2% to around $64.95 a barrel. US Oil price was at $65.38 per barrel as of the time (12:30am ET, Wednesday) of this post update.
10 –year Treasury Yield: The 10-year Treasury yield eased to just under 4.3%. The 10-year yield was at 4.293%, as of the time (12:30am ET, Wednesday) of this post update.
After-hours action: Dow Futures edged up 30.00 points or 0.07% vs. fair value. S&P 500 futures was up slightly at 0.04%, and Nasdaq 100 futures was also up but slightly at 0.08% as of the time (12:30 am ET, Wednesday) of this post update.

Celestica Inc. has been a top performer since last year. The stock was 5.3% today. The stock’s price likely has more room to rise in the short term, as the company today launched its ES1500, a new 1U, up-to-48-ports, 2.5GbE per port campus access switch with optional Power-over-Ethernet (PoE), designed to address the evolving demands of the enterprise edge.
