NASDAQ and S&P 500 Pulled Back from Record Highs but Nvidia on the upswing

The Toronto Market
The TSX Composite Index fell by -232.01 points, or -0.76%, closing at 30,269.98. Today’s decline continues the recent pattern of alternating gains and losses — marking the third consecutive pair of sessions to follow this trend.

Today’s Market Statistics: The market session today was quite negative. The issues that declined (Decliners) outnumbered those that gained (Advancers). There were roughly two Decliners for every Advancers, or a more exact ratio of 2.0-to-1.0. In real numbers, there were 1,341 Decliners to 672 Advancers while 153 stocks remained Unchanged.
Today, there were 304 new 52-Week Highs and 23 new 52-Week Lows. There were 329 new 52-Week Highs and 26 new 52-Week Lows yesterday.
The total volume of shares traded at the TSX today was 509,065,133, or 2% higher than the volume of 500,295,323 shares traded yesterday.
Market Wrap-Up Report
The Basic Materials sector saw a pullback today, creating space for other sectors to take the lead. Energy stocks, in particular, stood out. Energy Fuels Inc. (TSX:EFR) surged 9.75%, leading the gains in the sector. Teck Resources Ltd. (TSX:TECK.B) also posted solid results, rising 2.52% ($1.51) to close at $61.52, with 1.6 million shares traded.

Nutrien Ltd. (TSX:NTR), a consistent performer, was up 1.70% ($1.43), with trading volume at 1.8 million shares on Thursday.
Overall, the TSX Index has performed strongly this year, supported by top-performing stocks beyond the traditional mining and precious metals space.

The US Market
The Dow Jones Industrial Average declined a mere -243.36 points, or -0.52%, to close the session at 46,358.42. The S&P 500 index went down -18.61 points or -0.28%, ending the session at 6,735.11. The Nasdaq Composite slipped -18.75 points or -0.08%, to close at 23,024.63. The Russell 2000 index was down -15.14 points, or -0.61%, closing at 2468.85. Today, Russell 2000 index was under water (negative) throughout the session.

Today’s Market Statistics: At the NYSE, the issues that declined (Decliners) outnumbered the issues that gained (Advancers). There were roughly nine Decliners for every five Advancers, or a more exact ratio of 1.74-to-1.0. In actual numbers, there were 2,675 Decliners to 1,536 Advancers with 362 Unchanged.
Today, there were 354 new 52-Week Highs and 91 new 52-Week Lows. There were 469 new 52-Week Highs and 70 new 52-Week Lows yesterday.
The total volume of stocks traded today at the NYSE was 5,449,235,300, or 3% lower than the total volume of 5,625,945,670 shares traded on Tuesday.
On the NASDAQ, the Decliners outnumbered the Advancers. There were roughly two Decliners for every Advancer, or an exact ratio of 1.80-to-1.0. In actual numbers, there were 3,051 Decliners to 1,698 Advancers with 240 Unchanged. .
Today, there were 298 new 52-Week Highs and 85 new 52-Week Lows. There were 341 new 52-Week Highs and 89 new 52-Week Lows yesterday.
The total volume of shares traded at the NASDAQ today was 11,008,748,995, or 2% higher than the total volume of 10,803,948,486 shares traded on Tuesday.
Market Roundup Report
The market was broadly negative today, with all major sectors closing in the red. Utilities held up the best, while Basic Materials was the weakest sector, falling 1.79%. This aligns with the pullback seen across most gold mining stocks.
Airlines continued their recent strength. The industry has been posting gains of around 0.55% at least twice a week. Delta Air Lines (DAL) gained 4.23% today, making it a stock worth watching — or adding to your watch list. United Airlines (UAL) also saw strong performance, rising 3.31%.
The semiconductor sector has similarly shown consistent strength. One standout is ARM Holdings Plc (ARM), whose stock price has been on the rise. However, investors should approach with caution if the price becomes extended, as ARM stock has a history of sharp pullbacks.

Oil Price: U.S. crude oil price fell about 1.6% today. The US Oil price was at $61.28 per barrel, as of the time (11:30 pm ET, Thursday) of this post update.
Gold price is up 0.44% at $3,989.00 while silver price is up 0.56% at $47.44 per ounce as of the time of this post update.
Bitcoin (BTC-USD) is up 0.32% at $121,427.00, as of the time of this post update.
10 –year Treasury Yield: The 10-year Treasury yield rose two basis points earlier in the day. The 10-year yield is at 4.131%, as of the time (11:30 pm ET, Thursday) of this post update.
After-hours action: Stock Futures are only slightly changed on Thursday evening. Dow Futures is up 53.00 points or 0.11% vs. fair value. S&P 500 futures is up 6.00 points or 0.09% at 6785.25, and Nasdaq 100 futures is up 28.50 points or 0.12% at 25,318.50 as of the time (11:30pm ET, Thursday) of this post update.
